Ethical Marketer asked John a few questions:
EM – How long have you been involved in Internet Marketing?
JT – Since around 1999.
EM – Can you remember your first sale online?
JT – Yes, it was on eBay where I first started out.
EM – How long was it before you began to earn a full time income online?
JT – I was earning enough to quit my full time job by 2005 but I didn’t quit my job until the summer of 2006. Obviously, that’s a big,big step to take, quitting your job, so I wanted to make sure I was financially secure. I couldn’t really offer any advice when the best time for someone else would be. It is an individual thing and each person will know when the time is right for them.
EM – If you could offer one piece of advice to anyone starting out online, what would it be?
JT – My one piece of advice to anyone starting out online would be to get a mentor. I made tons of mistakes in the early days and I wouldn’t have made those mistakes if I had someone to go to.
Just to prove he actually over delivers on everything, he went on: Other advice would be to not get caught up in a cycle of buying products that promise you to make money for doing very little. Lots of people get caught in that cycle!
